Who out there remembers the orange flags that once draped Central Park back in 2005?
From Wikipedia : “The Gates was a site-specific work of art by Bulgarian artist Christo Yavacheff and French artist Jeanne-Claude, known jointly as Christo and Jeanne-Claude. The artists installed 7,503 steel "gates" along 23 miles (37 km) of pathways in Central Park in New York City. From each gate hung a panel of deep saffron-colored nylon fabric. The exhibit ran from February 12 through February 27, 2005.”
And wow, it was something to see! Orange flags flapping along the pathways and throngs of people braving the cold February winter just to be part of it. We discovered the best view was from the rooftop bar at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From up there you could see just how large the installation was. Where ever you looked, orange flags crisscrossing beneath the leafless trees.
Afterwards, we gathered at my friends apartment for an “orange party”.
So yes, everything we ate was orange, or at least somewhat tropical.
